Concept image of future Prado Cafe at Legacy on Dunbar.

Beginning as a humble shop on Commercial Drive, Prado Café built a reputation for quality coffee, amazing baked goods, and a welcoming atmosphere. Situated on Legacy’s public plaza, Prado’s 8th café is yet another perfect amenity for both the homeowners of Legacy and Dunbar residents alike.

We had a chance to catch up with owner Sammy Piccolo to ask him some questions about the new cafe currently under construction.

Can you tell us the story behind Prado and its inception?

Prado Cafe grew from the idea to serve coffee in one of Vancouver’s iconic neighborhoods, Commercial Drive and Little Italy. This was our first cafe. We were dedicated to working hard, serving the best coffee we could make, and finding every chance to make the customer experience the best possible.

This included fresh croissants, sandwiches from scratch, handmade baked goods (including our famous cookie with no name), and even brunch items. We expanded to additional neighborhoods that I felt a connection with. We’re really looking forward to being a part of the Dunbar community.

What led you to select Legacy as your next Prado location?

Dunbar is a connected community and a cafe with fresh pastries and world-class coffee will be a great addition to the neighbourhood.

What appeals to you about Dunbar?

I opened a cafe nearby about 15 years ago. I instantly fell in love with the neighbourhood and the people. I look forward to seeing new and familiar faces in the cafe when it opens.

Is there anything unique about Prado at Legacy you can share?

Every Prado is different. They all have a different feel and design that embraces the neighbourhood. I hope everyone will love Prado at Legacy as much as I do!
